The Federal Aviation Administration of the USA has discovered hundreds of irregularities in Boeing's quality system, including pressures exerted on inspectors to certify non-compliant aircraft. The incident in January 2024, when an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 suffered a major failure due to the absence of four screws, led to the grounding of the MAX 9 fleet and production restrictions. Boeing has 30 days to respond to the allegations, while the FAA continues strict inspections of the aircraft.
