German police arrested a 48-year-old man near a power plant in Weisweiler following a series of attacks and attempted acts of sabotage against the electricity grid. The suspect was carrying explosives and did not resist arrest. Investigators say he allegedly tried to cause short circuits on high-voltage lines using homemade rockets and metal wires. Launching devices, explosives, and letters claiming responsibility were found. Authorities believe the attacks were carried out by a lone activist associated with climate extremism. In the letters, he allegedly justified his actions by opposing the use of fossil fuels, including lignite.
