Privacy Policy

This policy describes how STRATEGIC MEDIA TEAM S.R.L. (hereinafter referred to as “SMT”) processes personal data when you use the informat.ro website.

We also inform you about your rights as a data subject, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR), as well as applicable national data protection laws.

“Processing” refers to any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure, alignment, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

WHO ARE WE?

STRATEGIC MEDIA TEAM S.R.L. is the controller of personal data, headquartered in Bucharest, 71 Buzesti Street, 3rd floor, District 1, Romania. Registered with the Trade Register under no. J40/11526/05.07.2022, VAT no. RO44538282, email: [email protected]. In this document, we refer to it as “SMT” or “Controller”.

According to the GDPR and national legislation, SMT must manage personal data safely, only for specified purposes, and implement adequate technical and organizational measures to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

WHAT DATA DO WE PROCESS? PURPOSES AND LEGAL GROUNDS

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

SMT processes the following categories of data:

1. Website Operation – automatically transmitted data (e.g., anonymized IP address), data collected via cookies and similar technologies; these are processed as aggregated, anonymized statistics using Matomo Analytics.
   Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) or (f).

2. Contact Purposes – name, email address, phone number, and any other information you provide in written or verbal messages. This includes data obtained via social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), such as your username, profile picture, etc.
   Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(a), (c), or (f).

3. User Account Creation – name, email, phone number, password (encrypted), Google or Apple identifier, user preferences. When using Google/Apple to register, you are redirected to the corresponding platform, where you are informed of the data shared with us.
   Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).

4. Legal Obligations – e.g., complaint handling, reporting to authorities, document archiving per legal requirements.
   Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(c).

5. Legitimate Interests of SMT – administrative needs, communication, complaint handling, internal records, legal defense, archiving.
   Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(f).

SMT may request additional data, where required by law.

If you do not provide required data, your requests may not be fulfilled, and you may not be able to use certain site features or services.

WHO IS THE DATA SUBJECT?

Data subjects include:
a) Visitors/users of the informat.ro website and social media followers;
b) Third parties whose data is provided by users;
c) Individuals who contact SMT via email, phone, or social media.

We usually collect data directly from you (website, messages, calls, etc.), or indirectly from third parties, legal representatives, authorities, or public sources – if applicable.

If data is provided by someone other than the data subject, that person must inform the subject about the processing.

When interacting via social media, their own privacy policies also apply.

HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR DATA?

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the specific purpose, and in accordance with legal requirements:

• Contact-related messages, including personal data, may be kept for up to 3 years (general limitation period for legal protection).

• After the retention period expires, SMT will delete the data.

WHO DO WE DISCLOSE DATA TO?

We may share personal data with:

• Public authorities (e.g., tax office, police, courts);

• Courts for legal defense;

• Third-party service providers (e.g., IT, hosting, legal, newsletter, analytics services).

Statistics are processed anonymously via Matomo Analytics, hosted on SMT’s own servers.

The website is hosted on Amazon Web Services servers located in the EU.

Any data transfer to third parties is done legally and with proper safeguards.

If data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is done only to countries with adequate protection or with appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS AND HOW CAN YOU EXERCISE THEM?

Under Articles 12–22 of the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access – obtain confirmation whether your data is processed and access that data, including the right to receive a copy;

• Rectification – request correction or completion of your data;

• Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”) – in certain cases, you may request your data to be deleted (e.g., if consent is withdrawn or processing is unlawful);

• Restriction – request temporary restriction (e.g., if data accuracy is contested);

• Data Portability – receive your data in a structured, commonly used format, or have it transferred to another controller;

• Objection – object to processing based on legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); if you object, we will no longer process the data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds;

• Automated Decision-Making – request review or challenge decisions made solely by automated means; SMT currently does not use such decision-making;

• Withdrawal of Consent – you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting previous lawful processing;

• Lodge a Complaint – you may file a complaint with the Romanian Data Protection Authority (ANSPDCP) or with a competent court.
