German authorities have arrested, in the state of Bavaria, two men suspected of carrying out sabotage activities in the interests of Russia on Romanian territory, according to Der Spiegel. The two are being investigated for involvement in an attack on the Carfil company in Brașov and for preparing similar operations on German territory.

Journalists Sven Röbel and Wolf Wiedmann-Schmidt claim that the suspects may have participated in the attack on the arms factory in Brașov, which investigators believe was organized at Moscow’s request. Der Spiegel also published surveillance images attributed to the SRI, showing an alleged participant on an exterior fire escape of the facility.

The identities and citizenships of the two men, as well as the exact place of their detention, have not yet been made public. According to the German press, they had also planned other sabotage activities in Germany, with the case being examined in the context of clandestine operations attributed to Russia in Europe.

A third suspect was previously arrested in Poland. Following the incident at Carfil, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bucharest accused Moscow of waging a hybrid war.
