American authorities are checking 1,800 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for fuselage cracks

More than 1,800 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft worldwide are undergoing an extensive fuselage inspection program, after cracks were discovered in older generation aircraft.

U.S. authorities have decided to extend these checks to MAX models, considering the design similarities with the affected aircraft. In the United States, 471 planes are targeted, and another 1,400 worldwide must undergo these inspections. The checks focus on the eighth and ninth series of the Boeing 737 MAX, particularly in areas near the doors and emergency exits.

This is the second major inspection for this family of aircraft, after checks were imposed last year for the incorrect installation of seats. In Romania, TAROM is preparing to introduce four Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the first of which has already completed a successful test flight.
