Kelemen Hunor, after meeting with Sorin Grindeanu: “PSD will not govern with AUR”

UDMR President Kelemen Hunor met on Tuesday at Parliament with PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu to discuss the solutions needed to install a new government and possible parliamentary majorities.
At the end of the meeting, Kelemen Hunor said that Grindeanu had assured him that PSD would not form a government together with AUR. The UDMR leader said the discussion did not concern the possible appointment of Luca Niculescu as prime minister, since no such decision exists, but rather the political formulas through which an investiture vote could be secured.
Kelemen Hunor believes it is necessary for the parties from the former coalition—or at least PSD, PNL and UDMR—to support the installation of the future executive. He said that after the government is invested, the parties could operate either in government or in opposition.
The UDMR president also said that an agreement could be negotiated on the general directions of next year's budget and on adopting the Salary Law before the budget. He warned that, in the absence of a stable majority, AUR would continue to influence the political scene and grow electorally either way.αρ
