UDMR President Kelemen Hunor stated on Monday, after consultations at Cotroceni Palace, that the party will not be part of the future government, after the Siegfried Mureșan government failed to win a vote of confidence in Parliament. According to him, UDMR does not support early elections, while he believes that President Nicușor Dan “still has, with today’s appointment, at least two more appointments to make.”
“We will almost 100% not be part of the next government. I rule this out for one reason: last week, we went to Parliament with a designated prime minister, Siegfried Mureşan, and a minority coalition that did not pass. Tomorrow, we cannot be part of another coalition. This is not about the PSD, nor is it about the PNL; it is a matter of consistency. So, you cannot jump from one train to another within a week. Has anything changed? Nothing has changed,” UDMR President Kelemen Hunor stated after the consultations at Cotroceni, according to News.ro.
Hunor also confirmed that on Monday, before the consultations at Cotroceni, he had a nearly hour-long discussion with PSD President Sorin Grindeanu.
“I said that we cannot do something together with AUR and SOS. He asked me how I saw things; we had a discussion lasting nearly an hour. We each have arguments and a point of view. I also spoke with Ilie Bolojan. We have one red line, but it is not something that arose today or yesterday,” Hunor stated, emphasizing that UDMR does not support early elections.
“With today’s appointment, the president still has at least two more appointments to make,” Hunor added.
