UDMR President Kelemen Hunor rejects the theory that parliamentary groups would vote for any proposed government to avoid triggering snap elections. The leader of the party considers this interpretation to be “false” and argues that lawmakers’ vote cannot be explained by a general fear of returning to the polls.
”You realize that not much would change after snap elections. Snap elections can be held; it is a constitutional solution. We cannot in any way say that, if snap elections have not been organized in 36 years, despite attempts, they will not be organized in 2026 or 2027 either. We cannot reach that conclusion,” Kelemen Hunor said Tuesday evening on Euronews România.
UDMR President Kelemen Hunor announces that the Union remains open to cooperation with any political party, except AUR.
”That is our red line. I have not closed the door to PSD, PNL, or USR, nor will I close it, regardless of what pressures there are, but we have a problem with the other side and, of course, I respect every voter, regardless of where they cast their vote; every vote is a democratic vote, whether it is cast for UDMR, PNL, PSD, USR, or AUR—it is a democratic vote. I respect every voter. Beyond the voters, there is the party with a certain political orientation, which, from my point of view, is not acceptable today,” Kelemen Hunor also said Tuesday evening on Euronews România.
