Dragos Pislaru, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, stated that Romania will not enter recession due to the available European funds and investment projects. He emphasized that, although the budget deficit has been adjusted to 8.4%, this allows for the efficient financing of European funds. Pislaru mentioned that the absorption of these funds could contribute to an economic balance of 0.2%-0.3%.

He also highlighted the issues of over-contracting and populist measures that have increased recurring expenses, limiting the investment space. Collaboration between the Ministry of Investments and the Ministry of Finance is essential to avoid bottlenecks in project implementation. Pislaru emphasized that Romania has never absorbed more than 8.6 billion euros in a year, and in 2023 it is expected to reach this threshold.
