The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced a record in the absorption of European funds, with 10 billion euros attracted in the period from June 2025 to June 2026. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous year, when Romania absorbed 3.3 billion euros.
Pîslaru emphasized that Romania ranks 2nd in the European Union in net amounts absorbed, with a contracting threshold of 97%. He also mentioned that the amounts attracted through the PNRR are approaching 3 billion euros, with an estimated absorption of 95%.
However, the minister acknowledged the challenges related to managing the 21,000 projects in the PNRR, of which 8,000 are small and dispersed.
Dragoș Pîslaru also announced the successful completion of the renegotiation of the PNRR with the European Commission, maintaining a value of over 20 billion euros, essential for non-reimbursable investments.
This achievement is considered essential for reducing the budget deficit and for the development of Romania's infrastructure.
