The interim Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced that Romania will register an absorption rate of over 90% on the grant component of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which translates into attracting approximately 13.56-13.57 billion euros in non-reimbursable funds. So far, with payment request 5, Romania has achieved an absorption of 78%, and the difference up to 90% will be covered by payment request 6.
Pîslaru emphasized that the current risks are no longer related to investments, but to the assumed reforms, especially the non-adoption of the Unified Salary Law, generating a financial risk of 860-870 million euros. Additionally, the minister criticized previous governments for delays in implementing the PNRR and highlighted that most of the implementation efforts were made during the Bolojan Government, with a significant number of investments and reforms in the latest payment requests. Pîslaru rejected the idea that difficulties were caused by European institutions, accusing some parties of being unable to understand the importance of the PNRR for Romania.
