The final results concerning the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will be assessed after the sixth and final payment request is submitted to the European Commission, the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) announced on Monday.
Payment request No. 6 will include information reported by the reform and investment coordinators by September 15, 2026. The data will subsequently be used to update the PNRR Scoreboard.
The ministry states that the information currently available reflects the status of projects at the end of the first half of 2026. The responsible institutions are working to finalize the administrative procedures for closing the fifth payment request and preparing the sixth.
According to the coordinators’ preliminary estimates, the absorption rate is above 90% for grants and above 95% for loans. Following renegotiations with the European Commission in August 2026, Romania’s total PNRR allocation amounts to €20.11 billion: €13.57 billion in grants and €6.54 billion in loans.
Implementation of the plan is coordinated by 20 ministries and central public authorities, under the coordination of MIPE.
