On Tuesday, gendarmes used tear gas after several demonstrators at the farmers’ protest in Victory Square forced their way through the gendarmes’ cordons and threw various objects, including sticks, at law enforcement personnel.

Three people received medical care following the clashes in Victory Square, complaining of respiratory problems after exposure to tear gas, the Bucharest Gendarmerie announced. They were two men, aged 49 and 61, and a 53-year-old woman. The three were assessed by SMURD crews and did not require transportation to hospital.

Following the incidents, four people were removed from the crowd and taken to the headquarters of Police Station 4 for questioning, according to Digi24. Among the protesters are also people wearing T-shirts with Călin Georgescu’s picture.
