The interim Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, accuses the PSD that, through the legislative changes supported in Parliament, jeopardizes the implementation of certain milestones from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the access to European funds. Pîslaru claims that the recently adopted changes represent a "systematic sabotage" of the PNRR projects and warns that Romania risks having payment requests 5 and 6 blocked.
The statements were made after the Chamber of Deputies adopted the bill on decarbonizing the energy sector, in which an amendment supported by the PSD was introduced. According to this, the gradual phasing out of electricity production capacities based on lignite and coal can only be achieved after the construction and commissioning of new similar energy capacities. The project was adopted with 180 votes "for", 9 "against" and 27 abstentions.
Pîslaru believes that the amendment does not produce the effect claimed by its supporters and argues that the Government did not intend to close power plants without ensuring alternatives for energy production.
The official also criticized the PSD's position regarding other projects associated with the PNRR, mentioning the National Strategy for Biodiversity Conservation, the Salary Law, and legislation regarding integrity.
