Acting Minister of Investments and European Funds, Dragoș Pîslaru, warned that the PSD will prolong political instability if it votes against the Mureșan government. The statement was made after his hearing in the parliamentary committees for the European funds portfolio.
Pîslaru claims that the Social Democrats would be betting against Romania’s interests, counting on Sorin Grindeanu being nominated for the position of prime minister. He described this strategy as a “bluff,” meaning a risky political gamble aimed at obtaining power.
The minister stated that 30 more votes are needed for the government to be invested and asked PSD lawmakers who understand the national stakes to support the proposed formula. In his view, the PSD could gain electorally by entering a genuine opposition.
Pîslaru accused the PSD and AUR of strategic cooperation to block the government, citing, among other things, statements by AUR leader Petrișor Peiu. The allegations concerning alleged external interference and interests related to infrastructure projects or procurements were not detailed. The minister also said that Grindeanu’s repeated statements about his willingness to take over the government raise questions.
