Siegfried Mureșan accuses PSD of prolonging the political crisis by refusing to support the future government

Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan accuses the PSD leadership of prolonging the political crisis after the party decided not to vote for the cabinet he proposed. Mureșan says the decision was made before the Social Democrats had seen the governing program or engaged in a dialogue on Romania’s priorities.

In a message posted on Facebook, the designated prime minister says PSD must choose between supporting the government, which would allow the crisis to be resolved in less than a week, and rejecting it—a scenario that would prolong the current political situation indefinitely.

Mureșan says the governing program aims to sustainably improve living standards and will include reforming state-owned companies, making public administration more efficient, ensuring predictability in governance, and using public funds responsibly. Other priorities include strengthening security, attracting investment, and consolidating Romania’s role in the European Union.

The designated prime minister says Romania can no longer afford to waste time and links the current crisis to a no-confidence motion initiated by PSD five months ago. He calls on the party to support the formation of a government and warns that a negative vote would maintain the political deadlock.
