The interim minister of Investments and European Projects and of Labor, Dragoș Pîslaru, argued that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan did not “destroy” Romania, but financed the country’s modernization. In an assessment published on Facebook, he presented the investments and reforms carried out through the NRRP in infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy and social protection.

According to the minister, the program supported the construction of the Moldova Highway, the modernization of 50 locomotives and 64 carriages, as well as work on 1,500 kilometers of railway track. In healthcare, the funds were used for seven hospitals, 1,200 ambulances, 25 neonatal intensive care units and more than 2,000 family medicine practices.

Pîslaru also mentioned 110 nurseries, the modernization of thousands of schools and classrooms, support for more than 6,000 SMEs and start-ups, as well as the installation of solar panels for 71,000 households. In the social sector, centers were built for children, people with disabilities and older people, while 4,000 people were deinstitutionalized.

The minister says that the government led by Ilie Bolojan absorbed more than 90% of NRRP grants and more than 95% of the loan component. Pîslaru accused the PSD of “sabotage” and criticized politicians who challenge the program’s results.—}
