Petrișor Peiu says Siegfried Mureșan will not seek a parliamentary vote and that Nicușor Dan will then nominate Sorin Grindeanu

Petrișor Peiu, leader of the AUR senators, says Siegfried Mureșan will not get as far as seeking an investiture vote in Parliament and that his nomination by President Nicușor Dan would merely be a first step before a possible proposal for Sorin Grindeanu.

The statement was made on Digi24, amid consultations on forming a new government following the fall of the Bolojan Cabinet. Peiu believes Mureșan will realize that he cannot secure the required number of votes and will avoid going to Parliament for a negative vote.

The AUR leader also expressed reservations about the possibility of the liberal seeking support from his party, citing previous statements that he described as “quite aggressive” toward AUR. In his view, a possible rejection of the government would not automatically make early elections more likely, since the decision to dissolve Parliament belongs to the president.

Peiu also said that Nicușor Dan is “very stubborn” and might insist on forming a government under the current parliamentary configuration. He predicted that the next nominee for prime minister could be Sorin Grindeanu. These are political assessments by the AUR leader, not official decisions regarding the future government.
