USR President Dominic Fritz says the new Government will in fact be led by PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu and warns that the Union’s former ministers will become the target of a campaign of attacks and disinformation. He made the statements on Wednesday, during an interview with RFI, following Tuesday’s vote in Parliament.
Fritz said that Luca Niculescu, the designated prime minister, would have a largely formal role and that Grindeanu had acted in Parliament like the head of the Executive, setting directions and deadlines for the new prime minister. The USR leader thus explained the vote by the party’s lawmakers against the new Cabinet, which he says is, in reality, the “PSD Cabinet.”
Dominic Fritz also responded to Sorin Grindeanu, who had accused USR of leaving the government with a convicted leader and an agenda dominated by “hatred and hysterics.” Fritz rejected the accusation and argued that the only convicted person currently holding a senior position in the Government is the new Interior Minister, Neacșu.
The USR leader estimates that some reforms initiated by the Bolojan Government will be maintained because of budget constraints, while measures affecting the interests of the networks surrounding PSD could be reversed.
