USR President Dominic Fritz accused PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu on Monday of intending to cancel the reforms carried out by USR ministers while they were in government and to change Romania’s political direction. The reaction came after Grindeanu announced that he was beginning the “de-USR-ization of Romania.”
Fritz argues that, in this context, “de-USR-ization” would mean a return to the practices that the PSD allegedly used before USR ministers entered government. The USR leader says that the Social Democrats were upset by the fact that Romanians saw that ministries could be run through reforms and concrete measures.
He listed several projects attributed to USR ministers. According to Fritz, Diana Buzoianu allegedly reduced the number of forestry directorates from 41 to 19 and intensified inspections, Radu Miruță and Irineu Darău allegedly saved factories and jobs, while Oana Țoiu organized a competitive contest for diplomatic recruitment and reduced waste at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Fritz told Grindeanu that he could change people in office, but he could not erase from the public memory the results that Romanians had allegedly seen. He concluded by saying that USR would continue its work, regardless of the PSD’s decisions.
