Iuri Ușakov, senior advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, ridiculed the European Union's peace plan for Ukraine, calling it "unconstructive." Ușakov stated that the Kremlin prefers the initial peace proposal from American President Donald Trump, which included significant concessions for Russia, such as the ceding of Ukrainian territories. Following a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Putin mentioned that Trump's plan could serve as a "good basis for a future agreement." Although discussions between the U.S., Ukraine, and European allies have been described as progress, the fundamental differences between Moscow's objectives and those of Kyiv remain significant. Trump criticized Ukraine for its "total lack of gratitude," but expressed optimism regarding the ongoing negotiations.
