The Kremlin does not rule out resuming Russia-Ukraine-US negotiations after the visit of American envoys

The Kremlin does not rule out resuming peace talks in a tripartite format involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States, following visits by American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian presidency, said it was nevertheless too early to determine the venue and date of new discussions.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday, where they met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The American envoys also traveled to Kyiv, where they held talks for the first time with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Peskov welcomed the mediation efforts and said that any attempt to resume dialogue represented a step toward peace. He noted, however, that Moscow had not yet received information about the talks held in Kyiv.

A Ukrainian official claimed that representatives of the Donald Trump administration had presented new and “more effective” proposals to end the war, without providing details. Previous negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, held in 2025, had stalled, particularly because of disputes over Ukrainian territories claimed by Russia. Zelensky warns that the war could continue this winter as well, when Ukraine’s energy infrastructure could again come under attack.
