Rheinmetall, the main German arms manufacturer, has received a significant order from the Bundeswehr for 120 mm caliber ammunition intended for Leopard tanks.

This order is part of an existing framework contract, extended in July 2023, with a total value of approximately 4 billion euros. The contract allows for the purchase of hundreds of thousands of projectiles until the end of 2030. Additionally, Rheinmetall is collaborating with Romarm to develop a powder factory in Romania, funded by the European Commission with 47 million euros. This collaboration will increase the production of powders for ammunition to over 10,000 tons annually and explosives to 4,300 tons.
