According to a source from the intelligence services cited by Kyiv Post, Russia is rapidly intensifying its military and secret activities in Transnistria, aiming to destabilize Moldova and increase the threat to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (HUR) reported that the Kremlin is mobilizing reserves and establishing drone production centers in the region. These actions are part of a broader strategy to create tensions in Moldova ahead of the 2026 elections. HUR emphasized that Russia is sending agents to Transnistria to provoke chaos and exacerbate the crisis.

HUR also mentioned that Transnistria largely depends on Russian subsidies to survive economically, and the Kremlin intends to restore Tiraspol's access to free Russian gas. This situation highlights the geopolitical complexity in the region, considering the history of the conflict in Transnistria and the presence of Russian military forces.
