The president of USR, Dominic Fritz, announced that on Thursday the party's proposal for the position of Minister of Defense will be made public, following the resignation of Ionuț Moșteanu. Fritz emphasized that the new candidate will be a qualified person, with experience in the field of Defense, who knows the SAVE program and will be able to efficiently manage the 16 billion euro budget allocated for equipping the army. He also convened a Political Committee to vote on the proposal on Friday. In the same context, Nicușor Dan mentioned that a new full minister will be appointed by the end of the week, emphasizing that the interim is ensured by Radu Miruță, the Minister of Economy. The president avoided revealing possible names for this position but assured that the situation does not represent a vulnerability for Romania.
