After the broadcast of the documentary 'Captured Justice' by Recorder, USR announced that it will summon the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, to provide explanations before Parliament. The documentary shows how politicians and businessmen influence the judicial system to avoid convictions, including by changing judges, which leads to the prescription of offenses. The interviewed judges revealed an atmosphere of fear in the system, generated by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM).
Concrete cases were also discussed, such as that of Marian Vanghelie, where the trial was delayed by repeated transfers of judges. Judge Andreea Chiș and others highlighted the lack of checks on the judges involved in corruption cases.
Lia Savonea, the president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, is accused of influence and ties with PSD, but she rejected the accusations, considering them a campaign of delegitimization.
