Andrea Chiș, proposed for the Justice Ministry, says the governing program proposes dismantling the “power pyramid” in the system, created by law

Andrea Chiș, the proposed Justice Minister in the Mureșan cabinet, said in a statement given to the press in Parliament on Monday that “a pyramid of power” had been created in the justice system, established through legislation, which would allow control of the system from within.

Asked about the alleged influence exerted by the Chief Justice of the High Court, Lia Savonea, Andrea Chiș avoided naming individuals. According to her, the governing program provides for dismantling this structure and aims to reform the power structures in the system and give judges equal access to holding positions.

“I don’t want us to talk about names, but I did speak about a pyramid of power and pointed out that this was created through legislation and enables control of the system from within, and that is precisely why, if you read the governing program, you will see that what we propose in it is precisely to dismantle this pyramid and give all judges equal access to certain positions,” Chiș said.

Chiș also said that the fight against corruption must become a priority for the future government, arguing that political involvement in implementing these objectives represents an act of courage.

Andrea Chiș was nominated last week by PNL, USR and UDMR for the position of Justice Minister. The former judge, also known for participating in the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice,” is scheduled to be questioned on Tuesday.

The hearings of the candidates proposed for the Mureșan government cabinet began on Monday at 14:00 in Parliament. The first candidate questioned was Sebastian Burduja, the PNL-USR-UDMR nominee for the position of Energy Minister, who received a negative opinion.

Parliamentary procedures will end tomorrow evening.
