Sorin Șipoș is expected to be the USR's proposal for the position of Minister of Defense

Sorin Șipoș, senator and head of USR Timiș, is considered a favorite by Dominic Fritz to take over the position of Minister of Defense, according to sources. The USR leadership will meet on Wednesday, and the official announcement could be made on Monday. President Nicușor Dan, who is in Paris, stated that he will discuss the nomination with Fritz. He emphasized that the Ministry of Defense should be led by politicians, not technocrats.

Ionuț Moșteanu resigned on November 28, accused of falsifying his CV, and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan acknowledged his resignation. Radu Miruță, the Minister of Economy, is acting at Defense, and USR will propose a new minister within 45 days. Moșteanu's resignation is the second from Bolojan's Government, after that of Deputy Prime Minister Dragoș Anastasiu.
