Victor Ponta accuses that Radu Miruță would not be legally compatible with the position of Minister of Defense.

Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta launched an attack against the USR proposal to appoint Radu Miruță, the current Minister of Economy, to the position of Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister. Ponta claims that there is a state of legal incompatibility, citing documents from the National Integrity Agency (ANI) and the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC), which show that Miruță has simultaneously held the position of deputy and authorized natural person (PFA), which contravenes current laws.

Ponta sent an "official notification" to the President of Romania and the Prime Minister, emphasizing that this incompatibility could severely affect the Ministry of Defense. He urged journalists to investigate the situation and highlighted the importance of respecting the rule of law. Meanwhile, the president of USR, Dominic Fritz, convened the Political Committee of the party to validate the proposals for ministries, including Miruță for Defense. Radu Miruță stated that he will continue to support the projects initiated at the Ministry of Economy, while focusing on strengthening the Defense sector.
