The Polish Ministry of Defense has announced the launch of a new military training program, titled "At Readiness," which will begin this month. This program is part of a broader plan to train approximately 400,000 people by 2026, in the context of increased defense spending driven by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Poland, which has become the third largest army in NATO, with 216,000 employees, intends to expand its forces by nearly a third over the next decade.
The program will be open to all citizens, offering basic courses in security, survival, medical training, and cyber hygiene. In the first two months, it is estimated that approximately 20,000 participants will be trained, with a total of 100,000 people targeted for all forms of training. The main objectives of the program are to strengthen the resilience of citizens and enhance the capacity of reserves. This initiative was initially announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk in March, in response to heightened security concerns in the region.
