President Nicușor Dan promulgated on Friday the reform law of the National Integrity Agency (ANI), which will have a direct impact on the mandate of Dominic Fritz, the mayor of Timișoara. His mandate will cease within 30 days from the entry into force of the law. Nicușor Dan mentioned that, although he maintains the arguments of unconstitutionality, he acted quickly to avoid losing funds from the PNRR.
The new law introduces public files regarding financial interests, which will replace asset declarations, but with limited information. The amendment that provides for the loss of mandates for those declared in conflict of interest will directly affect Fritz, who has been declared in conflict of interest by the High Court. The law is an essential milestone in the PNRR, having a value of 770 million euros, and must be adopted by August 31 to avoid financial losses.
