The Polish government announced on Friday a complete reform of emergency protocols and the launch of a mobile application to alert citizens in case of alarm, in response to criticism received after a Russian missile penetrated Polish territory.
The Minister of the Interior, Marcin Kierwinski, highlighted the structural deficiencies of the alert systems and emphasized the need to build a modern and efficient response system to threats. During the incident, authorities used air raid sirens but did not send notifications to citizens. The new mobile application will integrate all alarm systems and provide information about shelters.
A "Safety Guide" was also distributed on mobile phones, providing protection instructions.
The incident occurred in the context of a massive attack on Ukraine, with the missile hitting an uninhabited area, without causing casualties.
