The interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, announced the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Romanian Embassy in Riga, at a ceremony attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braze. This moment marks 105 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Latvia and 35 years since their restoration.
Sergiu Nistor, the first resident ambassador of Romania in Latvia, was present at the event. Oana Ţoiu emphasized that the opening of the embassy will facilitate the expansion of political dialogue and will intensify the bilateral partnership in areas such as defense, technology, education, and energy.
During the visit, Ţoiu discussed with her counterpart about the security situation on the Eastern Flank, hybrid threats, and the need for close coordination among NATO allies, as well as continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
