President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić accuses the UN tribunal of "uncivilized behavior" after the death of Ratko Mladić

Aleksandar Vučić accused the UN tribunal on Friday of 'uncivilized behavior' following the death of former Bosnian Serb military leader Ratko Mladić, who died on Thursday in a detention unit in The Hague.

Mladić, at the age of 84, was serving a life sentence for genocide and war crimes committed during the Bosnian War (1992-1995). Vučić stated that Serbian authorities are awaiting information about the return of Mladić's body and that they will organize a dignified burial in Serbia if the family requests it. The tribunal recently rejected Mladić's request to return to Serbia, citing his health condition. Vučić claimed that The Hague wanted Mladić to die in detention, considering this behavior unacceptable.

The UN tribunal has opened an investigation into the circumstances of Mladić's death, who was convicted in 2017 for his crimes, including the Srebrenica massacre. Although he was convicted, Mladić continues to be glorified by some Serbian political leaders.
