The Romanian government approved on Friday the allocation of 135.622 million lei from the budget reserve fund, intended for the Autonomous Administration of Romanian Air Traffic Services (ROMATSA). This amount will be used to ensure the functioning and safety of air navigation services, covering essential expenses, including personnel costs.
The funds are necessary because, starting from July 1, 2026, ROMATSA has not received the amounts collected by EUROCONTROL due to an enforcement seizure, affecting the financial flow of the administration. The measure is temporary and does not constitute a permanent subsidy, and ROMATSA will return the funds received in the event of recovery of the amounts by EUROCONTROL. Meanwhile, ROMATSA is seeking financing from Exim Bank of Romania S.A. to ensure the liquidity necessary for the continuation of its activities.
