The airline HiSky has paid its outstanding payment obligations to ROMATSA, after it had been notified on October 29 that terminal air navigation services were due to be suspended starting November 1, 2026. The operator announces that the situation has been clarified and that flights are operating normally, without operational restrictions arising from this case.

ROMATSA officially confirmed the suspension of the decision to halt services after payments resumed. HiSky states that the notification was commercial in nature and was related to the fulfillment of contractual obligations.

The company also announced changes to the schedule of transatlantic flights for the 2026–2027 winter season. Frequencies were adjusted due to rising aviation fuel costs, whose price exceeded $1,000 per tonne. The operator maintains that keeping the initial schedule would have led to higher fares, which could have exceeded $1,000 for some tickets. HiSky says the optimizations aim to maintain a balance between operational efficiency and competitive prices for passengers.

Context: ROMATSA had previously notified HiSky that it could suspend terminal air traffic services throughout Romania

Before HiSky settled its outstanding obligations, ROMATSA had notified the company that it would suspend terminal air navigation services for all airports in Romania starting on November 1, 2026, at 00:00. The measure was conditional on the full payment or guaranteeing of the outstanding debts, while the resumption of operations also depended on meeting other conditions provided for by the legislation in force. The notification came amid reports of possible serious financial problems for the operator.
