Context: AnimaWings entered judicial reorganization after repeated technical problems and gradually suspended flights
Before the decision to reject the insolvency application, AnimaWings announced the initiation of judicial reorganization proceedings, citing recurring technical problems with its fleet and economic pressures that had affected its operations. The company stated that the measure was intended to protect continuity, stabilize operations, and restructure its financial obligations, while passengers were to be informed directly, with solutions such as rescheduling or individual cancellations, depending on aircraft availability.
During the same period, the operator gradually reduced its flight capacity: it suspended the operation of several Airbus A220-300 aircraft, and subsequently announced the suspension of scheduled flights for a period. At the same time, the company said it would offer affected passengers refunds or alternative travel options, depending on the situation, amid repeated aircraft unavailability.
After filing the insolvency application with the Bucharest Tribunal, the court rejected the request to open the proceedings, but ordered the creditors’ applications to be severed, with each to be examined separately at a later date. The creditors mentioned in the case included financial institutions, entities in the field of air navigation, and airports in Romania, while the ruling could be appealed within seven days of being communicated.
