AnimaWings filed, on October 20, 2026, a new request to open insolvency proceedings, after the first request, registered at the end of September, was rejected by the court due to missing documents. The new request is scheduled for a hearing on October 28 and was submitted pursuant to Article 66, paragraph 10, of Law 85/2014.
The court also decided to separate the insolvency requests filed by 25 creditors of the airline. These are to be heard on November 11, 2026.
The company initially suspended all its flights until October 25, but the period was recently extended until November 15. The measure affects passengers’ operating plans and holidays, as the operator is facing financial problems.
Data from the Ministry of Finance show that AnimaWings reported turnover of approximately 66.5 million euros in 2025, but also losses of more than 22 million euros, compared with a profit of around 400,000 euros in 2024. The transaction through which founders Marius and Cristian Pandel were to sell 50% of the company to BT Asset Management, Evergent and Winners Holding Investments was not completed.
