Typhoon Kalmaegi had a devastating impact in the Philippines, with an official death toll of over 90, according to AFP data. The most affected areas are the cities in Cebu province, where violent floods forced locals to seek refuge on rooftops to escape the torrents that destroyed vehicles and cargo containers. In Liloan, a municipality near the provincial capital, 35 bodies were discovered, and the regional toll reached 76 dead, with another 17 victims reported across the rest of the country. Approximately 400,000 people were evacuated as a precaution. The typhoon struck the Philippines on Monday evening, bringing record rainfall of 183 mm in 24 hours in the Cebu area. The provincial governor described the situation as "unprecedented." Kalmaegi continues to move westward, with winds of 130 km/h and gusts of up to 180 km/h, particularly affecting the country's poor regions, which are the most vulnerable to such weather phenomena.
