In eastern Japan, in Chiba Prefecture, devastating floods occurred due to record rainfall, resulting in the death of at least six people and injuring five others. The rains, described by authorities as 'unprecedented', caused power outages for over 20,000 households and left 7,000 travelers stranded at Narita Airport. Emergency warnings were issued, and the risks of landslides and flooding continue.

The Japan Meteorological Agency explained that the torrential rains were caused by a mix of warm, moist air with cold air, creating unstable conditions. The governor of Chiba Prefecture, Toshihito Kumagai, stated that the situation is extremely unusual, even in the historical context of weather in Japan. Over 100,000 households were urged to evacuate, and railway services and some highways remain suspended.

In the Philippines, authorities closed schools due to the threat of flooding, while Typhoon Dolphin also affected other regions in Asia.
