In the wake of the devastating floods in the Himalayas, rescue teams from Nepal and China are working intensively to find survivors, two days after the deluge that caused nearly 600 deaths and 2,500 missing. According to reports, 584 bodies have been recovered, and the number of missing persons has significantly increased. Authorities in Nepal have reported 579 deaths and 1,924 missing, including foreign nationals.

Chaotic conditions hinder communication and damage assessment, and the severely affected infrastructure complicates rescue operations. Additionally, the police have issued a warning about the risk of new floods due to the breaking of a lake formed by a glacier.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has offered assistance to Nepal, and Chinese rescuers have arrived in the affected areas. This disaster is the worst in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake, and estimates suggest that approximately 93,000 people could be affected. Climate change is contributing to the intensification of these extreme phenomena.
