A powerful flood has affected northern Nepal, near the border with Tibet, causing massive destruction in the localities of Rasuwa district. At least nine people have died, and hundreds are reported missing, including 291 foreign tourists.

The Bhotekoshi River rose suddenly, flooding homes, roads, and energy infrastructure. Images show the extent of the disaster, with muddy waters destroying houses and vehicles. Authorities have mobilized helicopters for rescue, but the high water levels have hindered operations.

Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called for the evacuation of people near the rivers and has mobilized emergency response forces. The flood has also affected Tibet, causing landslides and human losses.

The hydropower infrastructure in Nepal has suffered significant damage, with 430 MW of capacity affected. This disaster comes a year after another devastating flood in the same area.
