Actor Ilie Badea Dumitrescu, known as “Toto” and the son of former footballer Ilie Dumitrescu, has been definitively sentenced to 2 years in prison, suspended, for leaving the scene of an accident. The Bucharest Court of Appeal upheld on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the sentence handed down by the District 1 Court in April.
Dumitrescu will be supervised for 3 years by the Probation Service and will perform unpaid community service. The court also suspended his driving license for 3 years and ordered him to participate in a social reintegration program.
The case concerns an accident that occurred on September 14, 2025, in which three cars were damaged. Although he was reportedly not responsible for the collision, the actor left the scene because he did not have a driver’s license. He was detained on September 16 and remanded in custody the following day. Subsequently, he spent 44 days under house arrest, after which he was placed under judicial supervision.
The actor admitted to the offense and requested to be tried under the simplified procedure, benefiting from reduced sentencing limits. The prosecutor sought a custodial sentence, arguing that his departure had prevented the determination of whether he had consumed psychoactive substances. However, the court considered that the remorse he had shown and supervision were sufficient to prevent further offenses. Dumitrescu had previously been sentenced in 2021 to 8 months in prison for driving under the influence of cocaine, a sentence whose enforcement was deferred.
