Germany plans to increase military aid to Ukraine by 3 billion euros by 2026, raising the total to 11.5 billion euros, according to the German Ministry of Finance. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will propose this measure as part of a budget amendment project. The aid will include artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and the replacement of two PATRIOT air defense systems.
Germany considers Russia a threat to the European Union and supports Ukraine in its fight against Russian ambitions. Additionally, the German government, led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, has initiated a modernization program for the Bundeswehr, the German army, which has been underfunded for decades.
