The European Commission has announced a new tranche of funding of 3.47 billion euros for Ukraine, intended for the purchase of essential military equipment, including drones, missiles, and Gripen fighter jets. This amount is part of the European support loan for Ukraine, totaling 90 billion euros, aimed at covering urgent military needs in the context of the war with Russia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of this funding for protecting Ukraine's skies and strengthening cooperation between European and Ukrainian defense industries. The new payment also includes long-range drones, and Brussels will approve additional funding for military equipment in the coming weeks.

The European Union estimates that by 2026, it will allocate 28.3 billion euros to support Ukraine's defense industry, as part of a broader assistance program. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the EU has provided Ukraine with total support of over 220 billion euros.
