Public interest in Romania over the past 24 hours has been dominated by international football, alongside domestic social and economic issues, widely reported incidents, education and entertainment.

International football accounts for most of the attention, with Elche – Real Madrid and Liverpool – Tottenham in the spotlight after the matches played on September 15, while Fiorentina – Pisa attracted interest after Fiorentina qualified for the last 16 of the Italian Cup.

International football continues with the matches Al Ain – Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal – Al Gharafa, Rayo Vallecano – Espanyol, Alavés – Valencia and Ipswich – Arsenal, while Cristiano Ronaldo was followed after Al-Nassr’s defeat by Al Ain. At the same time, the Ballon d’Or has returned to the spotlight through statements by Diego Simeone and the debate over the nominees for the 2026 edition.

Romanian football and Romanian players abroad are generating interest through Radu Drăgușin, Andrei Rațiu, Mirel Rădoi, George Pușcaș and the national team’s preparations for its Nations League matches; Rațiu is also mentioned in the context of the Rayo Vallecano – Espanyol match.

The farmers’ and shepherds’ protest in Victoriei Square remains an important social issue following the incidents on September 15, when protesters and gendarmes clashed.

Fuel prices are being monitored through the change in the tax regime for diesel: the temporary 25% reduction in the excise duty was maintained for the period September 16–30, amid rising international quotations and pump prices.

In the area of incidents and current judicial affairs, the case of Viorel Oarză, found shot in a forest near Iași and transported in critical condition, attracted attention, while searches related to judges, prosecutors and the Ministry of Justice indicate interest in the legal field.

International current affairs are reflected through Russia, Poland, the United States of America, Uzbekistan, Kim Jong-un and Sergey Lavrov, while aviation and the F-16 Fighting Falcon appear against the backdrop of interest in international and military developments.

The economic and technological sphere brings together the National Bank of Romania, Mugur Isărescu, Christine Lagarde, the stock market, Rompetrol, eMAG and Nvidia, while ChatGPT adds to the interest in technology and artificial intelligence.

Entertainment and popular culture include Liam Neeson, Michael J. Fox, Matthew Rhys and Cheloo, the latter being followed in the context of his participation in “Asia Express” 2026.

David Popovici has returned to the spotlight on the occasion of his 22nd birthday, while Ana Bărbosu has drawn attention through statements about her junior years and sporting career.
