Snoop and Realitatea Plus journalists assaulted during the protest in Victory Square

Two incidents in which journalists were assaulted took place on Tuesday during the shepherds’ protest in Victoriei Square, Bucharest. A Snoop journalist was struck on her camera while filming protesters throwing stones at a gendarmerie barrier, while a Realitatea Plus team was shoved by several men with their faces covered.

According to Snoop, journalist Ioana Moldoveanu was filming on Buzești Street toward the end of the protest when a man allegedly hit the camera and asked her to leave and hand over her phone. After the journalist told him that she represented the press, he allegedly swore at her. Later, in Victoriei Square, the man allegedly threatened her again.

The second incident took place during a Realitatea Plus broadcast. The reporter was shoved by several men with their faces covered who, according to the station, were dissatisfied with the report on the violence during the protest.

The Bucharest Police notified itself ex officio and is conducting checks to establish the facts and identify the people involved. The authorities have begun efforts to locate the suspects and take them to a police unit.
