One day after the violence in Victory Square, authorities are investigating how the shepherds’ protest was hijacked and the role of those who allegedly incited the clashes. According to Euronews Romania sources, they may include Ciprian Pamfile, known as a supporter of Călin Georgescu.

Pamfile allegedly helped mobilize participants and turn the demonstration into a broader protest, promoted online as a “protest of Romanians.” The man was reportedly removed from the crowd by law enforcement and taken in for questioning, while his exact involvement is to be determined by the investigation.

Calls for the September 15 protest were posted weeks in advance on TikTok, Facebook and other social networks. Some messages originated from among Călin Georgescu’s supporters and did not refer to the demands of livestock breeders.

During the demonstration, participants forced their way through the security cordon, threw objects at gendarmes and attempted to enter restricted areas. Gendarmes used tear gas and water cannons. Several people were taken in for questioning, and authorities opened criminal cases. Among those detained was a man carrying a knife. Members of football fan groups, AUR supporters, RoExit activists and people associated with anti-vaccination protests were identified at the protest.
