A USR local councillor was placed under preventive arrest following the protest in Victory Square

Dănuț Iulian Dincă, a USR local councillor in Bogdănești commune, Vaslui County, was placed under preventive arrest for 30 days after prosecutors accused him of violent acts at a protest by sheep farmers held on 15 September 2026 in Victory Square, Bucharest. The decision was issued by a Sector 1 court, and Dincă challenged the measure.

Dincă is a farmer from the village of Horoiata and owns approximately 400 sheep. He is among the 10 protest participants for whom the court ordered preventive arrest. The investigation concerns incidents that occurred during the demonstration, but the accusations do not constitute a final conviction.

In the case, 29 residential searches were conducted and 30 summons warrants were issued. The actions were carried out by officers from the Bucharest General Directorate of Police, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal. The Capital Police statement did not specify the names of the people targeted.

The mayor of Bogdănești commune described Dincă as a serious and hardworking local resident. USR representatives had differing reactions: Deputy Mihai Botez initially rejected the information, while Senator Cătălin Mândru condemned the violence and said that, if the accusations are confirmed, the councillor must face the consequences.

The protest was organized by farmers dissatisfied with restrictions imposed because of peste des petits ruminants, including an export ban—measures that farmers consider a threat to the livestock sector.
