Dozens of searches in Bucharest and 15 counties, in connection with the violent incidents that took place in the Victoriei Square area of the capital, amid the shepherds’ protest

Police officers from the Bucharest General Police Directorate – Violent Criminal Groups Service and Central Criminal Investigations Service, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal, are conducting 29 searches on Tuesday in Bucharest and 15 counties, in connection with the violent incidents that took place in the Victory Square area of the capital, in the context of the shepherds’ protest.

"Today, September 22, 2026, police officers from the Bucharest General Police Directorate – Violent Criminal Groups Service and Central Criminal Investigations Service, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal, are executing 29 home search warrants and 30 summons warrants in the municipality of Bucharest and in the counties of Arad, Bacău, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Brăila, Călăraşi, Cluj, Constanţa, Covasna, Dâmboviţa, Gorj, Ialomiţa, Prahova, Sălaj, Timiş and Vaslui. The operation is being conducted as part of a criminal case in which investigations are being carried out into the offenses of public incitement, assaulting a public official, disturbing public order and peace, destruction, and assault or other acts of violence, involving 40 people, of whom preventive measures had previously been ordered against 10 defendants," the Capital Police said on Tuesday.

The investigation concerns the incidents that occurred in the context of the shepherds’ protest, held on September 15 in Victory Square, Bucharest.
